Lead Test, May 19, 2009 by reviewer: Mark Ford.
"I have had nothing but problems with ollas in respect to lead; all the ones I purchased had lead. That is until I purchased their olla de barro!!! It passed my lead test with flying colors; absolutely no lead was detected!!!"

PRODUCT REVIEWS
Curing was easy; I let the pot and lid soak in water for about 24 hrs, after the soak I patted both dry and rubbed several garlic cloves all over (inside and out). Because some of the glaze chipped off while soaking I went a step further to make sure I wasn't cooking with any impurities and did a second cure by filling the pot about 1/2" from the rim with water and a 1/4 cup white vinegar; I boiled until most of the water was evaporated. After letting cool enough to handle, I drained the water and gave a quick rinse.
Note*
I have an electronic glass stovetop so I purchased a heat diffuser plate so that the top of my stovetop wouldn't be scratched and the pot wouldn't break with the temper changes.
I would highly recommend investing in Clay cookware, it will take your dishes to another level of yummy.
- Easy to cure
- Even slow cooking
- Adds earthy flavor to dishes
- Glaze chips easily
- On the thin side of clay cookware
- It keeps food warm and it cooks faster.
- No cons really like any barro pots you have to handle with care.
- Fun.
- Lid grip too small for my hands. Gets very hot- use extra caution.
- Side handles too small.

Arrived in good shape, exactly as anticipated .
Leaks while heating for first cure, a little more in next few uses, then it starts seasoning and leaks no more.
Keep beans soupy for refried and leftover reheating.
- Delicious food!!!
- Careful with the lid as the vent holes are right next to the handle.
I priced it at different sites as well as a Mexican Import Store near me, MexGrocer had the lowest price and free shipping.

- Attractive design.
- Like the glossy finish and the instructions on how to treat it before use. They also included a bean recipe. That was kewl. It is huge and could cook 4 cups of beans for a party gathering. The handles are very supportive when lifting the pot. Good to use them new rubbermaid heat resistant pot holders. Gave it as a gift and am sure its a handy addition to their home.
- Took a little longer than I expected, to arrive. But, it arrived on time for giving away as a wedding gift.
- great people too work with , fast and friendly, will order in the future
- no cons great product

- no cons great product
- large, pretty
- handles are ridiculously tiny. you cannot fit your finger in there, and you are likely to drop the pot if you do not pinch the handles with all your might. Same for the pot lid. it barely can be grasped. if you have giant man hands, you are doomed. Clearly no one was thinking about the end user when the pot was designed, they just had people slap the clay on without any thought. too bad.
- very nice, lots of stir room and a large base for quicker cooking. Really nice to look at also.
- Beautiful detail
- Mail handling isn't the greatest being shipped to Hawaii
marked fragile and arrived in perfect condition. I haven't used it yet but plan to soon. I love the design
and it looks like a rustic, artistic piece sitting on my stovetop. I am going to order another one for my
daughter as a gift.
