Our Lady of Guadalupe Rosary

Filter & Sorting

The Rosary consists of repeated sequences of the Lord’s Prayer, followed by ten prayers of the Hail Mary (also known as decades) and a single praying of “Glory Be to the Father” following every ten Hail Mary’s. Sometimes the Rosary is accompanied by the Fatima Prayer, and after praying each decade it is accompanied with one of the Mysteries of the Rosary, which tells the life of Jesus Christ.

The beads in the Rosary are a physical method that helps you keep count of the Hail Mary’s you have already prayed; you recite the prayers as you move your fingers along the beads. This way it’s easier to meditate on the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary without mentally having to count the Hail Mary’s. There are five groups of ten beads or decades in a five decade Rosary. Before each decade of ten Hail Mary’s, we recite an Our Father Prayer using the large bead as a guide and a new mystery is meditated upon the larger beads.

"Rosarium" in Latin means “Crown of Roses” and it also refers to roses and rose gardens, it was used to signify a collection of prayers which could be compared to a bouquet of roses. So when ever we pray the Rosary were Crowning the Virgin Mary with a Crown of Roses or giving her a bouquet. The rose is the queen of all flowers.

As we see today, the rose is a very popular symbol associated with our Blessed Mother Mary and it is a sign that she often uses as she did in the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. When Humble Native Indian Juan Diego went before Spanish Archbishop, Fray Juan de Zumárraga to bring him the proof that he requested, a shower of beautiful Castilian roses (which don’t grow in Mexico) fell to the grown revealing the beautiful image of Our Lady of Guadalupe imprinted in Juan Diego’s tilma (cloak).

The apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe is one of the most fascinating Catholic lore of all times. As an extremely important icon in the Catholic Church, the Virgin Mary is shown in Mexico City at one of the most visited Catholic shrines in the world: La Basilica de Guadalupe. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patron saint of Mexico and the Americas, that’s why medals and Rosaries are a reproduction of her image, to honor her and carry her next to our hearts.
