Hormel Foods
Hormel Foods are the makers & distributors of the world’s most famous brands: Hormel, Spam, Jennie-0, Stagg Chili, Dinty Moore & Chi-Chi’s. Hormel Foods was founded in 1891 by an ambitious entrepreneur called George A. Hormel. His first meat packing plant was built in what had used to be a creamery. About three years later George expanded by adding a two story building behind the creamery. Several expansions would follow during the years.
The company set up branches in other states due to the popularity of fresh pork products in the late 1890s, starting with its first sales office in 1901 that was situated in Minneapolis Minnesota. A distribution center and offices followed soon after in Duluth & St Paul Minnesota, Chicago Illinois, Dallas Texas and Atlanta Georgia.
Jay C. Hormel took over the company in 1929 when his father George A. Hormel retired from handling the daily operations of the company. It was precisely his son Jay who brought a unique vision to the company, his innovative thinking led to a number of amazing new products that are known worldwide and are highly popular, including the Span, Hormel Chili and Dinty Moore beef stew products.
Today Hormel Foods s dedicated to provide their consumers with excellent service, high quality brands and products that are affordable, nutritious and bursting with flavor.
